Support Indie Tsushin!
インディー通信 Indie Tsushin is ad-free, does not (and will never!) run sponsored content, and is mostly made by two people in their spare time. We write the articles, buy the games out of pocket, conduct and translate the interviews, lay out and edit the website and zines, pay for hosting and recording equipment, and so on. We do all this because we are gigantic nerds and hope that more people can play and appreciate Japanese indie games and their developers. We would gladly do it even if we never made a single yen from this.
BUT! If you enjoyed the zine, please consider paying for it! Any amount would be more than enough, and would go a long way towards boosting our morale and keeping us going. Not only that, it lets us pay guest writers to appear in the zine! If you can't afford to donate, don't even worry about it! Indie Tsushin will always be available to read for free and will never go behind a paywall. You can also help us a ton by sharing this zine or our website, and by rating and reviewing our zines on itch. We also have a Ko-Fi if you would prefer to leave us a tip that way. Thank you so much for all of your kind support!

This was so interesting -- love what you guys are doing! I once read about a rich culture of indie/hobbyist game developers in Japan, but as a non-Japanese speaker, I could never get far in accessing the games or info about them, and they seemed not to post often on Itch. I got the impression that conference-type exhibitions were favored (?). This zine was not only informative/interesting (doujin games, dev "circles" -- all new to me), it gave me some jumping off points for learning. I've noticed more Japanese games on itch in recent months, which is a great development. I'll keep an eye out for your streams and hopefully I'll have a chance to contribute to one of your future jams. Thanks for doing this!
That is so kind of you, thank you so much! I am really glad to hear that you can use Indie Tsushin as a jumping off point to learn about more Japanese indies, because yeah, there is just sooooo much cool stuff out there! There are quite a few indie game events in the calendar year, and those are great places to learn more too. This past weekend for example was Tokyo Game Dungeon 4, and if you check the exhibitor list, you can see a ton of games and their trailers. (I'm also gonna try to write something for next month's issue about it, ehehe) I do hope you'll join one of our jams in future!! I'm looking at your itch profile and I see lots of cool stuff I gotta check out soon 👀
Great! This exhibitor list is excellent, I'm checking it out now, thanks again!
